How you choose to get money to buy the materials to improve your gear is entirely up to you (hence the sandbox). However what’s unique about the game is how you acquire the gear and materials to do all that is not linear. Except you often times succeed when you’d rather fail and it’s all one massive headache really. There’s whole series of strategies revolving around failing on purpose on bad gear to improve your chances of success on good gear. As you get higher, failure adds going backwards as the negative consequences so if you have a +17 piece of gear and fail to enhance to +18 you will slide backwards to +16. ![]() Essentially as you fail to improve your gear you gain “failstacks” that improve your chances the next time you try.
